In order to be successful in your quest for a job, you must first prepare. Nearly 50% of success in a job quest is your armor - in this case your resume and cover letter.

Resumes
A valid resume will not only impress a potential employer, but will also build your confidence in yourself and your work skills. With today's fast-paced, active work force, and alternative training options, the typical "chronological" version of a resume often cannot fully express the abilities and talents of applicants. Most often, a "functional" resume is more appropriate.

  • A functional resume highlights your skills, education and training. (See Sample)

  • The chronological resume highlights your work experience. (See Sample)

Cover Letters
Even the most wonderful resume can be dismissed if not introduced by an "attention-getting" cover letter. If written correctly, your cover letter helps sell your skills and qualifications and get you noticed by the person hiring. The goal is to get the reader to delve into your enclosed resume and call you to arrange an interview. Your cover letter is a sales letter - one of the most important sales letters you will ever write.
