Lisa has been the Library Director at Gilmer Public Library in Glenville, West Virginia since September 2018. She manages the library’s budget, programs, staff, collection development, and facilities. Gilmer Public Library is a small, unique, community library situated between Gilmer County High School and Glenville State College.
Lisa received her Basic Library Certification in August 2019. She is a card-carrying member of the NoRLN Library Network, the Mountain Library Network, the West Virginia Library Network, and is a member of the West Central West Virginia Library Cooperative. She is also a committee member for the Little Kanawha Reading Series, a cooperative project between Gilmer Public Library, Robert F. Kidd Library, and the Glenville State College Department of Language and Literature.
Gilmer Public Library is supported by state grant funding, county levy funds, the City of Glenville, and donations. The Friends of Gilmer Public Library, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that also works to assist, support, and raise funds for the library’s benefit.
The library’s collection includes a vast selection of children’s books, youth and young adult books, Western, Romance, Christian Fiction, Military Adventure, Mystery and Sci-Fi. We have a good selection of large print texts, an amazing craft book selection, a large variety of cookbooks and an impressive medical and health section. We also offer a large variety of DVD and BluRay movies.
Gilmer Public Library also offers public computers, free wi-fi, access to 18 secure databases, and an ongoing book sale. Patrons can also access online ebooks and audiobooks with their GPL library card. The library also provides copies, fax services, lamination, and regular programs and events. Lisa leads a monthly Writer’s Group that meets at the library on the first Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. All ages and genres are welcome. She also holds Creative Play for Adults sessions every Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Supplies are provided at no charge. Contact the library at 304-462-5620 for more details and information.
