Writing Clips
I work
for a small weekly community newspaper in central West Virginia and
have nearly ten years experience in writing fields. With several
years teaching experience, I have spent time teaching for the public
school system, and for government "welfare to work" education
programs. I also work as a freelance travel writer, specializing in
affordable recreation in West Virginia.
In one such program, I taught job
and computer skills to disadvantaged people in the central West
Virginia area. Designed to teach students skills needed to
obtain and maintain employment, subjects in the course covered word
processing, resume development, interviewing skills, time
management, spread sheets and typing. Lessons also covered stress
management, working with others, work dress and appearance,
and writing.
I have degrees in English and
journalism, and am certified in Written English. My computer
experience has led me to a hobby of designing and maintaining web
sites, including
The Gilmer County Online Tour, and this site of helpful job
resume and interviewing tips.
Impecunious
Impressions, my online design store, offers Gilmer, Wirt and
Calhoun County themed items like shirts and stickers and mouse pads.
To view my weekly newspaper column online, visit another web site I
maintain, The Calhoun
Chronicle.

Virginia workers have easy access to the information they need to
prove themselves to potential employers. |
