Lisa on research
and writing:

"I have been researching and writing nearly all of my life. The daughter of a college grammar professor, reading and writing came naturally to me.

As a child, I diagrammed sentences for fun, and spent Thursday nights, the nights of Mother's night class, tucked away in the back corner of the college library when a babysitter wasn't available. They had desk top film projectors and books - lines of text - on film. You could set the timer on the projector to gradually speed your reading.

I can read like the wind.

I self-published my first book in the seventh grade, hand-made with onion skin paper stitched on a sewing machine, with a cover of cardboard wrapped in potato sack material. Illustrations were done in crayon.

I won first place.

Writing was a natural skill developed from my family environment. Words were abundant around me in all possible formats all my life. This is what feels natural to me."
